Located at 5 Biltmore Avenue, Färmese (pronounced "pharmacy") officially celebrated its grand opening on January 17 after a successful weeklong soft launch. The name "Färmese" draws inspiration from Greek and Latin roots: Pharama — "to charm and enchant," and Pharmako — "magic, cure, potion, medicine." This blend of ancient meaning perfectly captures the experience the Neuroths set out to create: a place where every drink feels like a bit of magic.

Meets Charm

Owners Layla and Justin Neuroth have transformed the historic ground-floor space into a cozy, speakeasy-style bar, embracing the building’s original character — from its exposed brick walls to its warm, intimate lighting. At the heart of Färmese is Layla’s 30 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, where her passion for craftsmanship shines.

Using in-house infusions, clarified spirits, milk and fat washes, and housemade shrubs, Layla creates cocktails that are as artful as they are delicious. Early favorites include a clarified bourbon twist on the classic Whiskey Sour and a smoked rum cocktail infused with ground vanilla bean. "I tried to bring to the table a culinary experience through beverage," Layla shares. Färmese is open daily, with live DJs every Friday and Saturday, and plans to expand with live music, social mixers, and tasting events featuring local chefs.
